Resumen

Considering that living beings are subject, morfologically, to very different factors, we have come to the conclusion, in the study of the mexican bats, that the classical method is not sufficient for the determination of the species.
For this reason, and inspired in the works of Johansen, Quetelet, Galton and others (as referred to by Oscar Hertwig) we have used
besides the descriptive, the bioestatistical method which allow us to see the normal variability of the measures of a given species and if they follow Gauss'Law; let us know their degree of assymetry and permits the formation of the morfological profiles corresponding to the measurement s obtained. Besides, by calculating the relations of co-variation it allows us to establish the degree of co-relation between dfferent species, and with the indexes obtained, ordained in simple scales, other profiles mey be formed with which a better characterization of the groups in study is possible.
These bats were collected during the months of September and November 1938, and February 1939. They belong to the species: Macrotus mexicanus mexicanus Sauss, Tadarida brasiliensis Geoffroi, Desmodus rotundus murinus Wagner and to a new variety which we establish under the name of Leptonycteris nivalis yerbabuenae because of the name of the place where it was collected, which has the following Characters:
Morfology and dental formula, same as L. nirvalis.
Size-larger.
Snout-longer and more robust.
Length of the mandibullae: 18.54 mm. in females.
Color, yellow in the body and violet 642 in the wings (Seguy's International Colour Code) .
Total length of 3 d. finger 107.26 mm. in females.
Total lenght of Tibia 21.94 mm. in females.
