ON AN ACANTHOCEPHALAN OF THE GENUS ACANTHOSENTIS VERMA ET DATTA, 1929 (NEOECHINORHYNCHIDEA, QUADRIGYRIDAE) FROM A NEW HOSTY MYSTUS SEENGHALA (SYKES)

Resumen

ABSTRACT
The authors have studied an acanthocephalan from a new fish host MYstus seengha/a from
Patna Muzaffarpur ( Bihar) India. The result of the measurements of the recove red acanthocephalans
shows that they are identical to Acanthosentis i11dirns Tripathi, 1959 wtih, very little
of differences. These clifferences are in the measurements of:
l. Males .. and fernales
2. proboscis
3. The eggs.
The authors are of the opinion that these differences are variations in the species due to
change of host.

Los autores estudiaron un acantocéfalo de un nuevo huésped, el pez Mystus seenJ!.ha/a de
Patna, Muzaffarpur (Bihar), India. El resultado de las mediciones de los acantocéfalos colectados,
muestra que son idénticos a Aca11those11tis i11d1Ct1S Tripathi, 1959, con muy pequeñas diferencias.
Esas dif,erencias consisten en las dimensiones de: 1) machos y hembras; 2) probaseis y 3) huevos.
Los autores opinan que -esas diferencias son variaciones de la especie debidas al cambio
de huésped.
