INSECTOS COMESTIBLES DEL VALLE DEL MEZQUITAL Y SU VALOR NUTRITIVO

RESUMEN
Se registran las especies de insectos comestibles del Valle del Mezquital, en el estado
de Hidalgo, las cuales pertenecen a los siguientes órdenes: Lepidoptera: Aegiale
hesperiaris K., Cossus redtenbachi H., Laniifera cyclades D., Eucheira socialis W.
y Heliothis zea B., del Orden Hymenoptera: Apis mellifera L., Myrmecocystus
melliger W., Liometopum apicu[atum M. y Atta sp., del Orden Coleoptera Metamasius
spinolae V., del Orden Hemiptera Pachilis gigas B., del Orden Homoptera
Proarna sp. y del Orden Orthoptera Trimerotropis sp.
Se analiza su valor nutritivo, haciendo un énfasis especial en la cantidad de proteínas.
Los insectos presentan un elevado porcenta je de proteínas que va del 30.80%
al 72.02%, con excepción de la hormiga mielera ;\,fyrmecocystus melliger que tiene
9.45% y de la miel de abeja 1.36% . Se encontró que en las especies Proarna sp.
Metamasius spinolae V. Liometopum apiculatum M. Pachilis gigas B. Trimerotropis
sp. y Eucheira socialis W., más de la mitad de cada gramo de materia seca está
formado por proteínas.
Se analiza también químicamente a los hospederos de algunos insectos y se estudia
el factor de conversión del alimento.

SUMMARY
We studied the edible insects of thc Mezquital Vallcy in the State of Hidalgo;
these were Aegiale hesperiaris K., Cossus redtenbachi H., Laniifera cyclades D.,
Eucheira socialis W. and Heliothis zea B. of the Orden Lepidoptera, Apis mellifera
L., Myrmecocystus melliger W., Liometopum apiculatum M. and Atta sp. of the
Order Hymenoptera, Metamasius spinolae V., of the Order Coleoptera, Pachilis
gigas B. of the Order Hemiptera, and Trimerotropis sp. of the Order Orthoptera.
The nutritive value of these insects was analysed, making an emphasis on the
quantity of proteins. The protein content ranges from 30.80% to 72.02%, with
the exceptions of Myrmecocystus me/liger with 9.45% and the honey bee with
1.36%.
We found that in Proarna sp ., Metamasius spinolae V., Liometopum apiculatum M.,
Pachilis gigas B., Eucheira socialis, W. and Trimerotropis sp. a half of each gram
of dry weight is composed of proteins.
The plant species which were fed upon by sorne of these insects were also analysed
and the food conversion values were made.
