Resumen
The white-winged vampire bat o "vampiro overo", Diaemus youngi (Jentink), has been reported from South America with a northernmost record at 4.4. Km. Southeast of Teapa, Tabasco, México. One specimen was collected in southern Tamaulipas by R. M. Darnell on April 5, 1951 giving this species a much wider distribution and extending its range more deeply into the North American Continent. The family Desmodontidae is thus represented as far north as northern México by all of its three recognized genera. The specimen reported in this paper was found among the material examined by the author while studying the collection of the Sección de Maztozoología, Instituto de Biología, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, for a report in preparation, on
the taxonomy, ecology, life history and economy of the Mexican bats and their relations with the public health.
