Resumen

A new variety of the Trichophyton tonsurans: Trichophyton tonsurans var. closterospora is described. This variety is characterized by presenting all the typical characters of Trichophyton tonsurans, excepting the presence of closterospores on Sabouraud's medium. The closterospores generally possess 3 and 4 locules, but also 2, 5 and 6 locular spores are found. Their diameter is 12 micra, their length varies with the number of locules, the limit beeing 30 to 52 micra. The walls are smooth, the extremity blunt. Expulsion of protoplasm on vegetative hiphae and on terminal clamidospores was observed frequently.
