Resumen

The Papilionoidea of the Antilles are definitely related to the fauna of Mexico but are divided into two groups. One group, the more
ancient fauna, is related to the older northern fauna of Mexico which is considered to have reached the islands in Cenozoic times while population movements from the north were in progress; the other faunal group, representative of South and Central American species, is assumed to have reached the Antilles adventitiously during and after Pliocene time with the arrival in Central America and Mexico of many southern species.
