Resumen

I consider as a new subspecies, Ceramaster patagonicus fisheri, the specimens that came from the island Santa Catalina, California and which were lent to me, determinated as Ceramaster patagonicus (Sladen). I agree with Fisher, who determined the differential caracteristics and believed that they very probably represented a new
and very closely allied species.
Holotype A.H.F., E160, off S.E. End at Santa Catalina Island; paratype A.H.F., E16l, 2:1/2 miles E. of White's Cove, Catalina lsland, California.
I consider the Ceramaster patagonicus var. euryplax H. L. Clark as a suhspecies. lt is worthy of notice the discontinuity in the areas of distribution: Ceramaster patagonicus patagonicus (Sladen) it is typical of the Magallean Straight and Falkland Plateau; C. patagonicus euryplax H. L. Clark, from the south of Africa; C. patagonicus fisheri Bernasconi, from the Gulf of California to the Sea of Behring and C. patagonicus productus, Djakonov from the Sea of Okhotsk.
