Resumen

The species of Capillaria described in this paper is the second one found in bats of North America, and very close to Capillaria viguerasi Freitas and Lent, 1937.-The greatly resemble in the size of the males and the ratio between the anterior and posterior parts, of the body, which is 1:1.3, but differ in the structure and disposition of the caudal pouch. Females show wider differences because while in C. viguerasi the vulva opens beyond the end of the oesophagus, in our species it is located at the termination of the oesophagus and beginning of the intestine; the membranous vulvar appendix, the vagina or ovipositor and the eggs are also different in size.
Other species less similar to ours are : C.speciosa (van Beneden 1873), C. palmata Chandler, 1938 and C. pereirai Freitas and Lent, 1935, but they all differ in the caudal structures of the male and in the size of the specimens, the spicules and the eggs.
