Resumen
In this papar the author makes a taxonomic, study of a lot of filariae collected in wild and domestic animals and in man, during his first trip to the 5th and 6th Onchocercous Auxiliary Sanitary Zones in the State of Chiapas, Mexico.-:
A new genus and species are described: Ochoterenella digiticauda found in the peritoneal cavily ol Bufo marinus (L.) Males have a caudal alae; five pairs of caudal papillae, 2 pre-anal and 3 post-anal; unequal espicules, little chitinized and no gubernaculum present. The females are viviparous, amphidelphys and didelphys; the vulva is located at the level of the posterior oesophagus and the microfilaria hove no sheath.
A detailed study was made of the adults and the microfilariae of the Onchocerca of man wcoking in the coffee plantations of the region of Soconusco, State of Chiapas, Mexico. The parasite was identified as Onchocerca volvulus (Leuckart, 1893). The caudal structures of the males, including the variations studied by us, are very similar to those found by Sandground in specimens collected in Guatemala and to those found by Brumpt. Fá¼llerborn and Rodenwaldt in African specimens of Onchocerca volvulus.
The anatomic study of the microfilariae of the skin obtained by means of a biopsy and that of those that migrated from the onchccercoma, was made, using vital stains, haematoxilin, methyl green, pyronin and Giemsa.
In the cervical ligament of cattle in the coffee plantations Onchocerca gutturosa Neumann 1919, was found. The males and females of this species are entirely different from those of O. volvulus, because they are very delicate and have an enlargement at the level of the oesophagus.
The cuticle in the female is strongly striated while in the male the striation is so fine and delicate that it often seems inexistent. The copulatory spicules of the male are large and of a different structure.
In cattle another filaria was found, Setaria cervi (Rudophi, 1819) which is common in the peritoneal cavity of Bovidae.
A description of a female of Diplotriaena sp. found in the body cavity of a hawk, is also given.
