Resumen

In the present work, after giving the histological structure of the "gusanitos de maguey," a series of observations and experiments are mentioned.
1. The cells that destroy the internal organs of the larvee of Aegiale herperiaris are of two types-fagocytes of Kowlevsky and lysigenous cells, both originating in distinct manners.
2. In the above cited larvae the phenomena of histolysis are brought about by an action which we can call centrifugal for the lysigenous cells and centripetal on the part of the fagocites .
3. The lysigenous cells have their origin in the tubercles of the connective layer that surrounds the digestive tube, while that of the fagocites is in the imaginal plate as well as in all of the layer of indifferentiated connective tissue that is found in direct contact witch the chitin producing cells.
