Resumen
In this paper a description of a new species of Spironoura, Spironoura intermedia is made, together with a comparative study of S. affine Leidy and S. concinnae Mackin. In Mackin's recent study of the North American species of Spironoura we find that S. affine Leidy, 1856 and S. concinnae Mackin , 1936 are similar to S. intermedia n. sp., which differs from them, however, by the following characters: 9 pairs of papillae; spicules 1.072 mm. long; 12 or 13 pairs of muscles in the pseudo-sucker; 38 pairs of ventral muscles, and the excretory vesicle beginning behind the anterior border of the pre-bulb.
From the european and asiatic species it differs mainly in the size of the spicules and in the arrangement and number of papillae.
With the finding of new specimens of Camallanus magnorugosus the structure of the papillar apparatus has become better known.
The existence of Spiroxys contortus in the turtles of Mexico gives this parasite a new host and a new locality.
